This dazzling array of color spread across the Miami sky last night is actually called “The Global Rainbow,” a public art installation by Yvette Mattern at Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach.

Only one day into Art Basel 2016 and it’s the obvious favorite for MVP of Miami Art Week. The 25-mile light beam emanating from 4701 North Meridian Avenue can be seen through Saturday.

Check out video and pictures of the #RitzRainbow, which were circulating Instagram with fury last night.

The Global Rainbow is a gift to Miami from the city-based real estate development firm, Lionheart Capital who commissioned NY/Berlin-based visual artist Yvette Mattern to create a large-scale public light installation during Miami Art Week. Beginning in the @MiamiDesignDistrict atop their headquarters and extending over the firm's latest project The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach, the lasers will best be viewed from the origination point over Biscayne Bay and parallel to 195. While launch event is private, looking up in the sky from 7PM until Midnight through December 3rd is totally open to the public. Use the hashtag #GlobalRainbow when posting photos to social media for your chance to win a prize. To learn more about this impressive work of art, click the link in our bio above.
